Rosebud
Wrong BP Unit of Measure
Often reported as “The Rosebud is giving me weird BP readings with a decimal in them” or “The Rosebud is not measuring BP’s correctly”. It is possible that the Rosebud is measuring in kPa (kilo-Pascals, a European standard) instead of mmHg (millimeters of Mercury).
Press and hold the C and Power buttons while the unit powers up. (IMPORTANT: Press and hold the C button FIRST, and THEN press and hold the Power button.)
The unit will beep once, and then you should see “888” in the top digital readout. At this point, you can release both of the buttons.
Press the C button repeatedly until you see the kPa indicator disappear and the mmHg indicator light up. Power off the unit and power it back on normally.
Battery Not Charging
Often reported as “The Rosebud is not holding a charge” or “The Rosebud keeps shutting itself off when it’s unplugged”.
1) Rosebuds are not shipped with the battery installed. The battery may not have been installed, or it may not have been installed correctly.
To check to see if the battery was installed correctly, unplug the Rosebud and remove it from its cart. Turn the Rosebud upside-down, and open the battery compartment door. You should see a light purple “D” shaped battery. IMPORTANT: The battery must be pushed into the battery compartment FULLY. Push the battery until the white plastic battery retainer clicks into place on top of the battery!
2) In some cases, the battery has been installed correctly, but the Rosebud is still not charging. This is indicated by the lack of a battery charging light. The battery charging light is a small green light located just above the AC power indicator light. Both lights are located in the bottom-left corner of the Rosebud, just above the Power button. BOTH LIGHTS SHOULD BE LIT WHENEVER THE ROSEBUD IS FIRST PLUGGED INTO A WORKING AC OUTLET. IF BOTH LIGHTS FAIL TO LIGHT, THE POWER CORD IS DAMAGED.
3) If the AC power indicator light is lit, but the battery charging light above it doesn’t light, unplug the Rosebud and remove it from its cart. Turn the Rosebud upside-down, open the battery compartment door, and remove the battery. Then re-insert the battery fully. You may have to remove and re-insert the battery a couple of times. By doing this, you are cleaning and re-establishing the battery connection. This is often sufficient to make the battery charging circuit work again. IMPORTANT: The battery must be pushed into the battery compartment FULLY. Push the battery until the white plastic battery retainer clicks into place on top of the battery!
SpO2 Connection
If the Rosebud won’t take an SpO2 reading, it may be the result of a damaged SpO2 cable. Unplug the SpO2 cable on the front of the Rosebud by pulling it STRAIGHT OUT. DO NOT TWIST THE CABLE. Look down inside the end of the SpO2 cable and verify that there are six (6) connecting pins. These pins are gold and should be perfectly straight. IF ANY PINS ARE BENT OR MISSING, CALL LIFE SYSTEMS TECHNICAL SUPPORT AT 1-800-841-1109, ext. 105.
